Coxwell Entrance Closure

As of March 21, 2025, MGH’s main entrance on Coxwell Avenue is closed as the next phase of our redevelopment project begins. Patients and visitors can use the new temporary main entrance on Sammon Avenue between Coxwell Avenue and Knight Street. View our campus map.

VPN - Remote Access Overview for first-time users

Step 1 - Review & Complete the .
Step 2 (optional) - If accessing Citrix applications, install Citrix Workspace software on your computer. Download .
Step 3 - Install Symantec VIP Access software on your computer (or smartphone). Download .
Step 4 - Wait for your access approval confirmation email from the IT Helpdesk.

VPN TERMINOLOGY EXPLAINED

VPN Full Access >>> Grants users access to the MGH hospital network as though they are sitting on-premise.
Citrix Storefront = Citrix WebApps = Citrix XenApps >>> All these terms mean the same thing and are sometimes used interchangeably. "Citrix Storefront" replaces these terms. The Storefront grants users access to various Citrix and web-based applications, including Cerner, Muse, ESM Scheduling, Dragon, etc.
Citrix Gateway >>> The gateway is a plug-in tool. It is required for users to access the Full VPN environment.
Citrix Workspace = Citrix Receiver >>> These are applications required to access the Citrix Storefront. The Workspace app replaces the legacy Receiver app however, the Receiver app will continue to work if already installed.
