Partnership Renewed with SickKids

East Toronto kids are the winners thanks to a renewed partnership between MGH and SickKids!

MGH serves many children and young families; in fact one fifth of our emergency department patients are children. That鈥檚 why we have partnered with SickKids for ten years; to ensure the best and most current paediatric practices in emergency care.

Dr. Michael Apkon, SickKids President & CEO, was on hand on Tuesday September 29 to announce the renewed partnership, which he said 鈥渄emonstrates SickKids鈥 commitment to children and families, as well as championing the evolution of child health systems as we work with other organizations to build capacity and develop integrated approaches to outstanding child health care outside the walls of SickKids.鈥

The ongoing partnership will give East Toronto kids continued access to high-quality, paediatric-focused care in their neighbourhood emergency department. An ER doctor from SickKids will spent a day a week working at MGH to share expert knowledge in paediatric emergency medicine and our emergency department staff will have access to enhanced specialized training.

Says Paul Hannam, Chief of Emergency:  鈥淭his partnership is a win, not only for our youngest patients, but also for the staff and physicians who work in both MGH and SickKid鈥檚 emergency departments. I know we鈥檙e excited about sharing best practices and learning with our colleagues at SickKids.鈥
